NEIGHBORHOOD BUS CAROLING
DECEMBER 12

Mr. Bush and a team of teacher volunteers are doing it again! A bus full of Kincaid Choristers will be traveling through our community neighborhoods to bring smiles and cheer through their lovely voices. This tradition began during COVID times when we were unable to have guests in our school. This event was so touching that it has continued for several years now. More information about the times and routes will be shared.

Did you know that pleasure reading can positively impact
your child’s overall academic success? Whether you are cuddling up and reading a book to your child, or your child is enjoying a book on their own, reading is so beneficial!

We are almost to our mid-year goal of 1 million minutes! Keep reading and logging your minutes into Beanstack! We plan to celebrate 1 million minutes on January. Look for more information coming on our Bedtime, Books and Beanstack event…happening January 18th!

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS AT KINCAID

Birthday treats can be pre-ordered through the café only by using this order link. Do not send in treats, balloons, or party invitations for select students.  Use Membership Toolkit to contact other families about birthday parties

Parents can also have their child’s birthday displayed on the school marquee using this order link.

*******************************************************************

CREATE A BOOK TOGETHER

Make a handmade book together by putting blank pages together and adding construction paper for the cover.  You and your child could write a series of books, documenting family memories and funny stories.  Ask your child to contribute, in whatever way appropriate, to the writing and illustrations.  Discuss appropriate titles and create a collection of “books” for your family bookshelf.

PLAY FAVORITES

What is our family’s favorite flavor of ice-cream? What is our favorite movie to watch together? What is our favorite bedtime story? Choose a question, or make up your own, that your child is excited about.

First, have your child predict or guess the answer to the question. Help her write down her prediction. “I think chocolate is our family’s favorite flavor of ice cream.” Then, have your child ask each member of the family for an answer. Have your child record the answers using a special Science Notebook or simply mark tally marks on paper. Finally, ask your child to compare her prediction to the actual answers. Predicting is a beginning step to making inferences.  Children must think about the reasons why someone will choose a favorite and must use current observations and understanding of others to make predictions.  Have fun with having conversations with your child about his/her predictions.
