October 29

Week of Oct 30 – Nov 3, 2023

Greetings Kincaid Families!

We had a fun Wellness Week with the students last week! Please have them bring their challenge sheets to the media center on Monday or Tuesday morning to get a prize for putting healthy habits in place!

To maintain high standards at Kincaid, we will be reinforcing the school-wide expectations. This week our focus is “Kincaid is a Hands-Off School”. All students are safer and happier when we all keep our hands to ourselves. Please ask your child about this and about the strategies they can use rather than using hands.

Tuesday is HalloweenNo Costumes Please.

Wednesday, the PTA food drive begins! Between November 1 and November 10th, your family can donate an item to go The Center for Family Resources (see flyer below for a donation list).

*******************************************************************

Did you know that Kincaid is a National PTA School of Excellence? Yes! Kincaid has held this distinction for the past 6 years and it is time to renew our status again. A requirement to be a National PTA School of Excellence is to share data from a parent survey. Please complete this survey by next Friday, November 10th: Survey Link

*******************************************************************

THE FUN RUN IS SATURDAY!

The annual Kincaid Fun Run is Saturday, November 4th! Kincaid Road will be closed between 8:00 and 9:00 Saturday morning for the Run. Please plan accordingly.

NEXT WEEK…

read a story, and browse through your favorite books and
authors. A portion of all sales will be donated back to Kincaid!

It’s one of our favorite events of the year! Kindergarten
and 5th Grade Families have a special invitation for a
Thanksgiving Lunch with their student. Due to schedule
changes, and the magnitude of this event, we are unable to
accommodate other lunch guests on November 10th.

Parents can also have their child’s birthday displayed on the school marquee using this order link.

*******************************************************************

TELL FAMILY TALES

Children love to hear stories about their family. Talk about a funny thing that happened when you were young. Consider keeping a journal of important memories and stories to be shared from generation to generation.  Challenge your child to do the memory-keeping of the information by asking him/her to write it down in a special book.  These experiences bring life and purpose to writing and becomes a valuable opportunity to get to know your child and his/her strengths and next steps with literacy. (adapted from www.readingrockets.org)

*******************************************************************

Thank you for your continued support of Kincaid as we set out to live our daily mission to Reach, Inspire, Support and Engage every student – every day! I look forward to seeing you at the Fun Run this Saturday!

LINK THE STORY

Take turns adding to a story the two of you make up while riding in a car or bus. Children get a better sense of sequence and important details when they do this type of work.  It can be a lot of fun to tell funny or spooky stories together.  Challenge each other by making characters have dialogue or inner thoughts, and have a little fun by discussing alternate endings to stories
