November 4

Week of November 6 – 10, 2023

Hello Cougar Nation!

There is no school for students on Tuesday – Voting Day. Our dedicated teachers will still be working, planning, and presenting data from their Quarter 1 successes. We are honored to have a catered lunch served to us by the Heydari Family, who owns Mersi Chef Persian Food in Kennesaw. We are so thankful for our generous families!

KINDER & 5th GRADE FAMILIES…

It’s one of our favorite events of the year! Kindergarten
and 5th Grade Families have a special invitation for a
Thanksgiving Lunch with their student. Due to schedule
changes, and the magnitude of this event, we are unable to
accommodate other lunch guests on November 10th.

DEADLINES…THIS FRIDAY

Did you know that Kincaid is a National PTA School of Excellence? Yes! Kincaid has held this distinction for the past 6 years and it is time to renew our status again. A requirement to be a National PTA School of Excellence is to share data from a parent survey. Please complete this survey by this Friday, November 10th: Survey Link

Friday is also the last day to bring in a food donation items to go The Center for Family Resources (see flyer below for a donation list).

LOST & FOUND

It’s getting cold, and our Lost and Found is filled with over 100 coats, hoodies, sweatshirts, and water bottles. Please ask your child to check for missing items. All items left at school after November 16th will be donated to charity.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS AT KINCAID

Birthday treats can be pre-ordered through the café only by using this order link. Do not send in treats, balloons, or party invitations for select students.  Use Membership Toolkit to contact other families about birthday parties

Parents can also have their child’s birthday displayed on the school marquee using this order link.

PLAY FAVORITES

What is our family’s favorite flavor of ice-cream? What is our favorite movie to watch together? What is our favorite bedtime story? Choose a question, or make up your own, that your child is excited about.

First, have your child predict or guess the answer to the question. Help her write down her prediction. “I think chocolate is our family’s favorite flavor of ice cream.” Then, have your child ask each member of the family for an answer. Have your child record the answers using a special Science Notebook or simply mark tally marks on paper. Finally, ask your child to compare her prediction to the actual answers. Predicting is a beginning step to making inferences.  Children must think about the reasons why someone will choose a favorite and must use current observations and understanding of others to make predictions.  Have fun with having conversations with your child about his/her predictions.
