We had so much fun on our first PTA Fun Friday! Special thanks to Grey in kindergarten! Grey’s family donated a visit from Freddie the Falcon to Kincaid! What a special treat for our students!

This Tuesday is Zaxby’s Spirit Night! Join us between 5 and 8pm at the Zaxby’s on Sandy Plains and tell the cashier that you are from Kincaid. 15% of your purchase will be donated back to Kincaid!

PARENT SURVEY

Cobb County is going through the reaccreditation process this year. Part of this process includes collecting feedback through parent, staff and student surveys. Please take 5 minutes to complete the parent survey:

The surveys are designed to collect data on student academic learning and wellness during the current school year.  Participation in each survey is anonymous and voluntary, and participation is highly encouraged. The survey results will provide Cognia Accrediting Agency, Cobb County School District, and local schools with data regarding student learning environment, staff input, and parent feedback to support continuous learning.

Students in grades 3, 4 and 5 will be given the student survey (between September 12 – 22). Please respond back to me by Monday, September 11th if you want to opt your child out from this survey (give me student name & teacher). deborah.tennyson@cobbk12.org

ARE WE THERE YET?

Use the time spent in the car or bus for wordplay. Talk about how jam means something you put on toast as well as cars stuck in traffic. How many other homonyms can your child think of? When kids are highly familiar with the meaning of a word, they have less difficulty reading it. Playing alphabet games can also be a lot of fun! Ask your child to collect words, as you drive, in alphabetical order; the first one to “Z” wins!

By talking about words and how they work, it allows children to have a better understanding of how to apply them within reading and writing.  Building an expansive vocabulary creates knowledgeable readers and writers!
