STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT

School-wide expectations are consistent throughout the school, as outlined in our Cougar Pride Plan. To show Cougar Pride, students demonstrate Personal Space, Respect, Integrity, Determination, and Empathy, in every setting from the bus to the playground.

To maintain our safest and most productive learning environment, we also follow the Cobb County Student Code of Conduct.

This week, I would like to review the policy on language, and highlight the policy on devices. Thank you for helping us reinforce these policies by having conversations at home. Our words can lift others up, or tear people down.At Kincaid, we always say that we use our words for kindness.

G. DISRESPECTFUL CONDUCT: No student shall use any type of profane, vulgar, obscene, or offensive language (written or oral) or gestures. Offensive language may include, but is not limited to, disparaging statements on the basis of disability, race, ethnicity, gender, or religion

F: PERSONAL COMMUNICATIONS/ELECTRONIC DEVICES: 1. Elementary and Middle School: Students shall not use, display, or turn on smart watches, cellular phones, video phones, or electronic devices during instructional time, class change time, recess, breakfast, or lunch. This means that students must keep their devices turned off and in their backpacks while on the bus, in the school, and anywhere on campus. Students may turn on their devices after they get off the bus and leave the bus stop area.

MORNING DROP OFF

Parents, morning drop off for car riders is only in the front circle, car pool lane. Please do NOT drop your students off in the bus port area.  This creates a traffic hazard and a safety issue for both students and buses.  We always have a lull in drop offs from about 7:20 – 7:30, and there is no waiting to drop off at that time. Please plan accordingly. After 7:45, parents need to accompany their student to the front office to sign in. Thank you!

I am sending a HUGE thank you for your support of the Cougar Run this past week! Your participation helped the Kincaid Foundation earn over $35,000, to directly benefit the students and the school! Students have been receiving personal affimations, and enjoying classroom rewards all week! With a team effort, students also earned two school-wide rewards! First, this Friday, we will have a Pajama and Stuffy Day! Next, all students earned a Bounce House on Field Day, coming up in May!

A special thanks to all the volunteers who made the Cougar Run successful and run smoothly! We love our volunteers!

Students, get ready to dive into the joy of reading on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, as we celebrate National Read Across America Day the Cobb County School District’s 10th annual Read-A-Thon! This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to come together with teachers, leaders, and staff to share the love of reading across our district. A Lineup of Guest Readers, including our own Mrs. Letendre, will read live online!  Kincaid Elementary is going to take the literacy celebration one step further and take part in a…

BEANSTACK VIRTUAL READ-ATHON!

For every book read in the classroom or live online, students will earn fifteen minutes in Beanstack on the 5th.  And, the best part is that support staff in the school will enter those minutes for them!  All they have to do is sit back and enjoy the read aloud.  The celebration of literacy is going to be a district-wide, shared experience that will bring us all closer.

We are 4 days away from the Cougar Run! The Cougar Run is our largest fundraiser of the year and 100% of donations stay at Kincaid. Donations will directly impact our STEM program, enhance student technology, and will fully fund our PTA and community events.

We are 9 days away from the Cougar Run, and will be kicking off this favorite event on Monday with a student pep rally!  The Cougar Run is our largest fundraiser of the year and 100% of donations stay at Kincaid. Donations will directly impact our STEM program, enhance student technology, and will fully fund our PTA and community events.

STOP MOTION VIDEOS

CONGRATULATIONS KINCAID PTA!

We are proud to announce that the Kincaid PTA was awarded an Arts Education Program Grant from Georgia Council for the Arts for 2025. For full details on this grant please read the press release. The funds from this grant, and several sponsors, will be used for the Celebration of the Arts event, coming up on April 4th!

CCYA PAJAMA PANTS CHALLENGE
THURSDAY, FEBRUAY 13
$1 DONATION

Thursday, we will be showing kindness to our community by raising money for homeless children in Cobb County. Students can wear pajamas and bring a $1 donation.

Your donation will to go the Center for Children and Young Adults to fund: meals and snacks, shelter utilities, school project supplies, needed undergarments, personal care items, birthday gifts, and much more.

KINCAID SPLOST PROJECTS

Many of you have noticed the tree flags at Kincaid. No trees are being removed at this time. We have had surveyors on site that are measuring the existing conditions of the school site, including topography, buildings, and trees. Flags are used to mark the diameter of the trees so they can note it accordingly in their survey. Survey data will help with the future Annex demolition and replacement project. Over the next couple of years, you will see the following SPLOST VI projects happening at Kincaid!

Afterschool clubs start this week and will go thru May 2^nd. 

Please make sure your child is marked correctly in GoSafe.  If they are going to a first session club, please mark them as “Club” in GoSafe. If they will attend ASP and then go to a second session club, please mark them “ASP” GoSafe.  Click here for detailed directions how to override dismissal for a club day!

Hello Kincaid Families!

Reminder…no school on Monday, as the district is observing the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. The superintendent announced that his team is carefully monitoring the weather for Tuesday.

This Friday is our next PTA Fun Friday! For a $2 donation, students will be given “snowballs” to throw at their favorite teachers, staff and principal.

PTA INTERNATIONAL DAY
SATURDAY, JANUARY 25
10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Join your Kincaid friends and neighbors to celebrate the traditions of countries and cultures from around the world. Students will pick up passports at the Kincaid Cafeteria Airport and spend the morning traveling to various countries represented in classrooms throughout the school. Guests will experience a day of cultural exploration featuring displays from around the world, mouthwatering international cuisine (meet our local restaurants), and participate in fun activities (Face Painting, Flag Craft Fiesta, A wave the World Activity, Airplane Game, and Scavengers Hunt)

FAMILY SURVEY

The GA DOE wants to know what parents think about Kincaid! Every parent or guardian is invited to take this survey for each school(s) you have a child or children attending this year. If two or more children attend the same school, please only complete one survey for each school. This data contributes to our School Climate Rating with the Georgia Department of Education. STEM DAY IS COMING!
RECYCLED DONATIONS NEEDED

Kincaid’s Stem Committee is excited about our upcoming Fairy Tale Stem Day on February 13^th and 14^th.  Students will be working on Fairy Tale related Stem challenges at all grade levels. We are on need of a few items to complete our challenges.  There will be collection bins in the front lobby, or your student can bring the items to the Stem Lab.

Needed…

• Paper towel rolls
• Cereal boxes
• Small, clean plastic food containers

We love helping you celebrate your child’s birthday at school through marquee messages, and through birthday treats served in the cafe!

Birthday treats sent in by individual families are not permitted. Birthday treats can be pre-ordered through the café only Please plan birthday treats by clicking this link. Do not send in treats, balloons, or party invitations for select students.  After you join PTA, you may use the address book in Membership Toolkit to contact other families about birthday parties.

Thank you for your generousity! We met our Family Investment Goal of $7500!!!! Your donations go directly to the school to supplement resources and fully fund some programs such as:

• Book of the Month Program – each classroom receives a hardcover book to support academics and character building!
• The Reading Celebration – food and prizes for students!
• Technology – just purchased 25 ipad, and an ipad cart for the STEM lab!
• Teacher Grants – teachers collaborate to provide extra for their students!
